New Menu - December 2011
The new menu has been launched, and just like the last is bursting with new and exciting dishes made using fresh, local ingredients. Although we have kept a couple of the old favorites, the majority of the dishes are new - these include:
Small plates & nibbles

New Menu - August 2011
The menu has been updated with some new dishes to keep our promise of bringing you the best of the local seasonal produce. New dishes are added the the menu on Wednesday 17th August, and include;
Best Large Restaurant 2011
On Wednesday 27th April, at the Chester Food and Drink Awards 2011, 1539 Restaurant & Bar was awarded the Best Large Restaurant accolade for the second consecutive year, and the Silver Award for Best Use of Local Produce. The team were absolutely delighted to win the two awards. A big thank you to all of our supporters.

Our brand new à la carte menu is available from Thursday 17th February. It features some fabulous new local produce including Hatchmere eggs, and Anglesey Sea Bass. There are so many wonderful dishes to choose from you will be coming back again and again.

Adopt a School comes to 1539
1539 Restaurant & Bar and Chester Racecourse played host to a group of children from St. Werburgh & St. Columbus Catholic Primary School in Hoole as part of the Chef’s ‘Adopt a School’ Programme. The Academy of the Culinary Arts created the scheme to teach children about food, provenance, nutrition, hygiene and cookery and has been running for 10 years. The children thoroughly enjoyed the day at the Racecourse creating their own dishes and experiencing new flavours!

Beating the Winter blues
There was no sign of the Winter blues this weekend at 1539 Restaurant & Bar with almost 400 people enjoying a memorable dining experience. Throughout January and until 10th February diners can enjoy two courses from the à la carte menu every evening for only £15.39. This offer is available Monday to Saturday evenings and with dishes such as Braised shin of beef, kidney pudding, mashed potato & wilted spring onions and Roast breast of Goosnargh duck, pomegranate, cous cous, roasted almonds, garlic & cumin, to choose from this is a deal not to be missed.Winner of 'Taste of Cheshire' Award
Best Large Restaurant 2010
At the Chester Food and Drink Awards 2010 on 7th April Restaurant 1539 won the Gold Award for Best Large Restaurant., and the Silver Award for Best Use of Local Produce in a menu. It is a great achievement to receive both of these accolades and a credit to the entire team at 1539.

At the 2009 Chester Food and Drink Awards Restaurant 1539 won the Gold Award for 'Best Use of Local Produce in a Menu'.
We pride ourselves on using only the finest local produce ranging from poultry produced in Lancashire on Reg Johnson's farm to Vale of Clwyd Beef, Eaton Estate venison and Menai Mussels.
The award is accepted by Max Gnoyke, Consultant Chef, Phil Dougherty, General Manager of Chester Racecourse, and presented by Chester Food and Drink Chairman Stephen Wundke (L-R).
